Bethel residents warned about burglars

The Miami County Sheriff’s office is asking Bethel residents to be on the look out for possible burglaries in the Bethel Township area.  As reported in the Dayton Daily News there has been a series of daytime and night time break-ins in the Bethel and Elizabeth Township areas.  Thieves have been known to ring the bell or knock on the door to see if anyone is home.  If a resident is home they often make up an excuse about running out of gas or needing assistance.  In these instances residents are advised to deny entrance and asked to record liscense plate numbers and report them to authorities immediately.   Residents are also asked to report any suspicious vehicles or individuals to the Miami County Sheriff’s office by calling 911.  Evening break-ins include the looting and theft of materials from outbuildings.  Residents are encouraged to secure their outbuildings including vehicles, barns and garages to help deter burglars.

Questions can be directed to the Miami County Sheriff’s office at 440-6085.
